WTF! Where have we BEEN!! Well we've been around, we've been writing and obviously lost in our own little world! We had the pleasure of playing a house concert in Medicine Hat last year and have been invited back to showcase at the Singer Songwriter Night FEBRUARY 1st! Super exciting! :) I'm stoked and I know Karli is too :) We have a couple new songs to share!
Another gig coming up is in CALGARY on FEBRUARY 21! It will be our first time playing in Calgary :) We will be playing an intimate show at Art Central in collaboration with the wonderful artist Alexis Marie Chute at her art exhibit "The Quiet Rebuild". More information to come soon :)
Still working on our album, it's just so fun we can't stop! lol We're not going release it until it will blow everyone away! It's going to be FANTABULOUS!
We have tons of BIG plans for this year so stay tuned :)

Merry Christmas!!
Hey Everyone, phew this Christmas season has been BUSY!!! First working full time...it's been 3 years since I've had a full time job (outside of the home...for being a mother is definitely more then full time!) and it's taken some time to get used to! I've been trying to teach my husband how to do the dishes and clean up after himself....it's been challenging, we're not quite there yet.
Second, lots of Christmas shows/parties with ID VIP Team's 12 Songs of Christmas! We have one more on December 28th! It has been a wonderful concert series and I can't wait to do it again next year. The amazing artists that were involved are Bryan Lenz, Ashley Weir, Olivia Rose, Olivia Wik, Andrew Scott, Drowning Ophelia (captain obvious here), and Giselle Boehm. Also the DJs/Soundmen were amazing thank you DJ Komrad (a.k.a Chris Dolan), Funkenstein Dangerfield (a.k.a Thomas Genereux), and Nickolas Carter.
Here's our medley of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings. It's a bit rough around the edges my camera broke so we had to use Karli's phone!
We are so close to finishing the first three songs on our new album and can't wait to share them with you!!

Oct...Nov...
Hey! So Candace has been busy but I really wanted to get a blog post up....so I am going to do my best :P
Lots has happened in the last couple months! Candace got a new job which is the reason she has been so busy. Its also made it a little difficult to book studio time! She working 8-4 then I work 3-9. New album is coming along but slowly.
We have had time to fit in a few gigs tho. October we had a last minute booking for the 3rd Local Lilith fair at Hooliganz pub. We had a late set but still a great turn out and ALOT of fun.
November proved to be an eventful month starting with our close friends fundraiser event for he son.
We had the honor of playing a set for that which was held in a small town called Compeer, Ab. Great food and great friends is was a delightful evening.
The weekend of the 16th we kicked off Christmas and welcomed Santa with ID VIP Team and the 12 songs of Christmas at Londonderry Mall! Candace's little girl came to see Santa although was distracted with dancing to all the christmas songs from our ID VIP Team friends Bryan Lenz and Ashley Weir. Unfortunately we had to leave our little dancer at home Saturday when we played at Chicago Joe's downtown....also missed out on the yummy delicious pizza...mmmm that was good pizza!
Candace left me the following weekend ( I believe I'm developing some abandonment issues) to perform at a Christmas event by myself, she was too sick to sing...unfortunately I only know one verse to What Child is this? so did a lovely instrumental for the rest of that song and I had to see both parts of our medley God rest ye merry gentlemen/We three Kings which proved confusing ony at the end where we sing both songs at the same time.... All in all it was a success and i enjoyed hearing Byan Lenz and his Christmas songs and the lovely Olivia Wik who wrote an original Christmas song
for the series.
We have quite a few more 12 songs of Christmas shows this month of December with ID VIP Team. Soon Candace and I are planning a youtube video of our Chirstmas songs so you can hear them too!
Hopefully you enjoy reading my post and now you know what we have been up too!
Cheers,
Karli

Drum Roll Please.....
Well hello there....we have some super wicked awesome news for ya.....it's me Candace...I'm BACK!!! Woohoo!!! lol After a short 5 month break I couldn't say away any longer! Karli bragging about her recording and seeing her playing on stage gave me the itch. But it wasn't until she dragged me onto the ID VIP TEAM stage at the Lamont Summer Sizzler Rodeo and got me to sing a few songs that I was hooked again! I missed it, I really did.
So here we are, united again. Drowning Ophelia is whole. We are working on some Youtube videos, our goal is to post one a week! So if anyone has any requests of songs (covers or your favorite originals!) for us to do let us know!
What have I been doing during my time off you ask? Well I've been honing in on my homemaker skills, raising a daughter, baking, cleaning, reading 50 Shades of Grey...seriously bad writing but I couldn't put it down!!! I've also been doing some free lance webdesign stuffs with my company Forget Me Not Design. I am the webmaster for www.prestomusicstudio.com (classes start sept. 4...) and www.idvipteam.com (book your live entertainment now! lol)
Decorated a few cakes and cupcakes. One for the Kindersley belly dance hafla put on by Fair Sheik Bellydancers....
Most recently Karli and I went to Canmore to Paul Plakas' fitness weekend (Custom Fit) and climbed TWO mountains! CRAZYNESS I tell you! The first day we climbed Ha Ling and the second day with climbed the Lady Macdonald. I'm still sore lol.
So that's a peak at what I've been up to the last five months! Now on to music and more music! I'm so excited to sing again! Expect to here from both Karli and I next week with some music!!!
Toodles, <3

Dear Diary....
I've decided to use this blog as a diary of sorts...you know keep track of things for when I'm featured on Behind the Music or something :P haha jk.
Well this last week was pretty busy! Got some recording done on Wednesday at Turnkey studios and we are ready to start vocals tomorrow for my first 3 songs of my new album!! These songs will be available somehow for download... I'll have to get Candace to do that for me....was never good at that computer stuff!
I also played some great gigs this weekend with ID VIP team. Friday night in wetaskiwin for their pioneer days was a lot of fun....I learnt what the Zipper was...;) haha I was never much for rides growing up I guess! Also got to watch the Red Cannons perform, they are an awesome rock band from Spruce Grove. And Saturday I helped Celebrate the County of St. Pauls 50th Anniversary! That was a lot of fun, there was a free BBQ, speeches and amazing entertainment! I met another great performer/singer songwriter Tama Neilene from Edmonton, AB and got to see the Command Sisters preform again......they have such beautiful harmonies....kinda like what Candace and I used to have...ahem...They remind me very much of us when we were younger! Except better maybe then we were back then.....
Well after that I was trying to guilt my dear sister back into the band ;) ... she just said she'll tape herself and I can sing along to it at my shows. Haha an idea stolen from Flight of the Conchords ... if you have never seen the show I suggest watching this video!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTWBhpPDmhs
Just a sample of how that might end lol.
Anyway I hope you have enjoyed reading this!! Yes I will be missing my sister still for awhile...so my blogs may continuously bring her up... I will try to avoid that as much as I can :P
But you know...this is my diary...can't hold that much back!
Cheers,
Karli

The Break Up...
...oh my, the first thing I'm blogging about is a break up!! Well lets say its more of a new beginning.
Some of you know, some this may be a surprise, Candace has taken a step back from Drowning Ophelia. I (Karli) am now on my own! Eek!
Its been taking a bit but I'm starting to adjust. I've had to do many things already as a one woman band. I've played many shows already by myself, New City was the first. I've played Billiards twice(they were both awesome nights too!) and The Winspear! Now that was an experience. I was lucky enough to be chosen to play the main stage at Creative Alberta's Imagination Conversation. That took a lot of mental preparation backstage to get out there by myself. Everyone said I did amazing! Even with a wilting mic stand...and having to stop my song Sunday Morning half way through to fix it!
I've also started recording a new album. All songs have been written by me! The first day was the hardest, being so excited leaving the studio .... and no one to share the experience with, it's a lot different then our first time recording. I've been making great progress on it though and will hopefully be releasing the first three songs soon! I'm also gonna make Candace come in and do some backup vocals on the record. Even though she's not officially in the band anymore she always will be part of it.
It has been a bit emotionally hard with out my partner but I do feel a bit more empowered by it as well and I know she's still here in the background cheering me on! She is now definitely my biggest fan. (and will probably be the first one to read this)
I should have called this blog 'ode to my sister' instead haha. I hope you all enjoyed reading it!
I apologize for my very bad grammer....I also hope there are no spelling mistakes....:P
Cheers,
Karli
